A brand is a collection of symbols, experiences and associations related to a product, service, person or entity. Considering brands as cultural accessories and personal philosophies is proof of how significant they are. Appropriate selection of a brand name is important because it is the principal thing customers associate with an offering. Brands must create an impression that the product or service is unique or special. A brand must deliver the marketing message clearly, confirms credibility, connects target prospects emotionally, motivates buyers and creates user loyalty.

It is important to note that established brands or household names have obviously higher prices although the product or service are inherently not of superior quality than competing brands.
