Digital Media

Alternative advertising media are recently displacing the position formerly held by traditional media following the shift in consumer patronage and preferences. Alternative advertising media includes digital media, which pertains to electronic media that work on digital codes and used as vehicles for marketing and promotion. Digital media used to carry advertising messages include cellphones, video, digital television, Internet, digital music, video game and other interactive media.

Digital technologies and gadgets are used on buildings, kiosks and transit shelters to sport urban wall displays. Advertising over the Internet is the latest craze. This is because the Internet is becoming more and more embedded in the lifestyle of consumers. This was preceded by mobile phone advertising which came about in the late 1990s. It started around 1998 when the first paid downloadable cellphone content were created. Mobile phone advertisements became popular soon after.
