Mobile Advertising

Mobile advertising is a form of advertising via mobile phones and other mobile devices. It is a subset of mobile marketing which traditionally means marketing in a moving fashion which includes vehicle wraps, technology road shows and moving billboards. Mobile advertising are principally text messages but advertisers are starting to send ads to handsets capable of receiving video clips, Web pages, music and game downloads.

Communicating marketing messages via mobile phones is becoming increasingly popular since the rise of short message service in the early 2000s in Europe and Asia. Mobile advertising is not to be confused with on-line or Internet marketing. According to estimates, the number of mobile phones worldwide reached 4 billion in 2008 while computers worldwide reached 800 million. Research show that in 2008, USD871 million was spent for mobile advertising worldwide, as compared with USD24 billion on Internet advertising and USD450 billion on total advertising.
